Let's Read the New Testament This Summer

I've started an initiative on my other blog that I'd like to share with you.

My men's Bible study is in the tank until fall, but I don't want to get out of the Word. That's why I'm going to read the New Testament this summer (May-Aug), reading about 2 chapters at a time. I figure that's maybe 10 minutes of daily reading—very doable.

Here's my plan.

I'm not going to read straight through from Matthew to Revelation. Instead, I'm taking the New Testament in four chunks, centered on the four Gospels.

First, Luke, Acts, and the letters of Paul will give me the chronology of the early church.

Next, I'll read the "Jewish Gospel," Matthew, and the Hebraic books of the New Testament.

Then comes Peter, who is the voice behind Mark's Gospel. Combined with Peter's letters, this gives us a no-nonsense view of the Christian life.

Finally, John gives us the ethereal, cosmic view of Jesus, from the beginning of time to the very end.

Here's a PDF of the daily plan. (Tip: Choose "Page Scaling: None" on your print menu.)

I'd like to consider the summer NT reading program. However, the PDF of the daily plan will not come up for me. I get the HTTP 404 Not Found error message when I click on the "daily plan" link.

I'll try again later. Maybe it's just a temporary problem. Thanks.

Hey Emily ... The link is fixed now. Sorry about that!

FYI, I'll occasionally post some comments on the reading at my Bible blog. I hope others will chime in too so we can compare notes on what we're learning.

Let me know if you still have trouble getting the pdf.

Larry, I'm late to join, but I'll catch up. My wife read the Bible in 90 days last year. I tried to keep up...didn't quite, but finished in 5 months. Should be able to do the NT in a couple months.

Hi Larry

Thanks for suggesting it. I started the plan last month and have been enjoying it. Just the other day I came across a verse I've been looking for for a few months and could not track it down--the last verse of 1 Corinthians 15. (You see I'm a bit behind in the plan, but that is a verse that is very encouraging to me.)

Welcome Neal and Andy ... it's cool that you're joining.

As for being late, maybe you can be like my buddy at church who got a bit behind ... he caught up while cruising on a houseboat for a week :-)

Hope this is beneficial.
